Review

"Out of the many R2R products that emerges lately, the HiBy RS2 makes a brave attempt to cut down OS and wireless features for a cleaner circuitry, achieving the most compact form factor for an R2R DAP and packs in its state-of-the-art DSP tuning tweaks. The high degree of freedom with user tweakable options plus modern interpretation of R2R technology is practical and rewarding, securing it’s position as one of the most versatile and fun DAPs within the price range."

"The HiBy RS2’s advantage in the sound department is that it’s a pure device. No unnecessary components inside from a pure sound perspective. The HiBy RS2 is a unique player in its way. It’s a nicely designed, compact and elegant player that manages to achieve a single goal; to play your files with high-performing sound for the price."

"My personal view is that RS2 is a new type of device that’s more a showcase of what’s possible on HiBy’s Darwin platform than what’s necessarily the most appealing to most DAP users. I can see the day when a high-end flagship R2R player is made with the same musical purist design philosophy as RS2, and in fact, it already has a far superior user interface and software platform when compared to some of the most expensive non-Android R2R flagships. "The HiBy RS6 is a deeply engaging and well-thought-out initial foray into the world of portable R2R Android DAPs... The ground-up conceptualization of Darwin and what it means to the portable audio user is probably the most salient aspect of all its features with that blazingly fast OS workflow already a staple of previous HiBy product releases. "When I started testing RS6, I didn’t appreciate at first the power of Darwin architecture until fw 1.20 update and addition of new IEM presets... I realized how effectively and naturally this DAP could be finetuned without a need of EQ or MSEB effects... Also, RS6 is one of the fastest DAPs I have tested to date."

"Hiby’s RS6 borrows a lot of technology from said D/A converters, choosing a higher engagement factor, flow and natural textures above anything else. If there’s a DAP that tries to elevate your mood and cover your body with goose bumps, then Hiby’s RS6 is definitely that one."

"A great DAP is the sum of all its parts – features, performance, stability, design, UX and sound quality. In my experience, few other DAPs comes close to the RS6’s combination of features, flexibility and sound quality, and no other DAP offers all of that plus R2R in one sweet and shiny copper package. Highly recommended."

"The HiBy RS6 is a wonderfully designed, elegant player that provides many features in a complete package. You have streaming, advanced DSP settings, DTA, Hi-Res Bluetooth, micro SD support, a very fast CPU with a clean UI, 4.4mm BAL and 3.5mm SE outputs in a very rigid copper chassis. This is a dream DAP when it comes to online music streaming. I appreciate HiBy’s first effort on their new, in-house “Darwin” R2R Architecture. I’m sure they can build upon this and reach greater heights. "
